Choosing a Gas Food Steamer
A multi-tray gas steamer cooks idli, momos, dhokla, rice and vegetables with steam, several trays at a time. It suits South Indian restaurants, momo outlets, canteens and caterers who need to steam large quantities without watching individual pots.
Before you order, decide
- Number of trays: count how many trays you need in one go at peak. Extra trays now cost less than a second steamer later.
- Tray type: perforated trays for momos and vegetables, idli plates for idli, solid trays for rice and dhokla.
- Water supply: a water connection with an automatic refill stops the steamer running dry.
- Gas connection: LPG or PNG, with a proper regulator and hose.
Descale the water tank regularly, especially in hard-water areas, to keep steam output steady.
